And.... A Manzette!

From Salisbury University's (somewhere in Maryland) Athletics page:

This Manzo was from a Russian website

Here's another!

This is "steve-manzo-smith-smasher"

I'm loving these google image searches!

This guy might be a long lost relative!

Justin Manzo from Cornell!!

Here's the text from the site if you can't find it on your own::::

Biography
Justin joined the Cornell Graduate School in 2003. Originally from Chicago, IL, he attained his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering also at Cornell University, after having spent a year in the architecture program. As an undergraduate, he focused on robotics and control, and was responsible for founding the Cornell Battlebots Team, which competed locally against robots built at other engineering schools. He has been awarded grants from the Cornell LIFE Foundation as well as from the Bartels Fund for independent research projects, and is currently working under a fellowship through the Graduate Student Research Program (GSRP) from NASA Langley Research Center. His work has been published by the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE).
Research
My research is focusing on the application of alternative actuator technology in the context of morphing aircraft – adaptive airframes capable of macroscopic shape change with the intention of granting multiple mission capabilities. Investigations into the role of “smart materials”, such as shape memory alloy (SMA), will hopefully yield mechanisms capable of generating prescribed wing motion with minimal weight and decreased system complexity from that of a conventional, DC-motor actuated system. Structural loading is also under investigation, as the once-accepted convention of a rigid aircraft wing carrying transverse loading must be revised to one subjected to compressive loading in the process of warping the wing into different configurations.

THat one time Michaluk cut his string

Remember when Manzo's car was hit from behind by Mrs. Recuber's Daughter? Yeah, and he had to close his trunk with a string.

Well, one time it was parked at the diner and Michaluk and I wanted to fill his car with rocks. His doors were locked, but when your truck security mechanism is a knot of string, your car is going to get unpimped.

The mission was successful, but Michaluk somehow cut the string instead of simply undoing the knot. Collateral damage.

Fortunately, everyone won when Manzo got to replace his old crappy Neon with...another Neon.

A call for memories

Seriously, is all we can remember about Manzo that he once hurt PJ and we stole his hubcaps?

To quote his away message "We've been hanging out every Thursday night for 2 years!!"There must be things he's done. I mean, he has fucking a whole "house" of candles!!!

POST SOMETHING!

BELIEVE IT!

One of my favorite stories involves Manzo and PJ. The story is a little fuzzy from the years, but basically Manzo and PJ were sitting at the diner. PJ was doing his (and our) usual bust on Manzo routine, when Manzo predictably started to get his rage. Eventually, after warning, Manzo decided that he was going to headbutt PJ. And he did.

PJ cried out "I can't belieeeeve my friend would do this to me" to which Manzo responded (in his most bellow-ous Manzo voice):

BELIEVE IT!

There is debate as to whether this was what caused PJ's bump on his nose or whether it was some kind of sparring incident in Boston. But I've learned enough to believe whatever Manzo says. To this day, it's one of Manzo's underused catch phrases, right up there with "I'll take two, THE RYE!"

That time we stole his hubcaps

I'm not sure how many times we stole Manzo's hubcaps, but here's photographic evidence that it happened at least once:

I'm not sure how many hubcaps we've stolen from each other, but I do know I got a call about it. My dad was thinking about going to sell the Lumina and told me I should get all those damned hubcaps out of the trunk. Did we ever give Marr his caps back? Maybe if they had been on his car, it would have protected it from the pinball that ensued.

As a bonus, try to guess how much heavier I am in that picture.

Sappy

Manzo, while despite being the most tightly wound person I've met, is pretty awesome sometimes. And it would be terrible if I didn't mention one of my favorite moments are Manzo's unexpected acts of kindness.

Sometimes I've been a little trying on the man, but he's always managed to surprise me with some kindness. A few examples:
  • He dropped me off at the train station for absolutely no reason (we were semi-warring then - perhaps it was to get rid of me...)
  • Calling me up that one morning to make sure we go to the Bistro. That was pretty cool
  • Giving me Match advice, and telling me I can chat with him anytime I need to about dating. Pretty nice of him

So I'm willing to bet that everyone is confused as to whether I'm being serious or not, so I'll just say the following: I like having Manzo as a friend.

Conviction Regarding his Principles

One day Manzo was offered a free beer. It was a 'Bud Select'. He refused. I cried. THE END!

Memories of Manzo

Recently, I was talking to John, and I lamented there wasn't some kind of permanent record of Manzo. Let's say that this fine individual got hit by a bus or errant Neon tomorrow, what would be left?

Besides a few chicken scratch quotes in a long lost book of Marr, virtually nothing would be left behind (except his "for show" books and a pee-stained glass). So, I was determined to start a lasting spot where we could all leave our fond thoughts of Manzo, share some of his wisdom, and ultimately revel in the pleasures of truly knowing "the question."

So, feel free to post away some stories, quotes, whatever you want of Manzo. You're all invited.
